Why should I get a system designed when general retailers give a free quote on the spot?
From our experience retailers tend to provide a list of product numbers and prices that any of their staff can put together. This generally means the system isn't directly suitable for your needs nor will the quote outline how your system will work.
To ensure a system will meet your expectations and budget, the solution provider should visit your property, gather valuable information about your lifestyle, personal requirements, who will be using the system and talk about the latest technologies available. Only after this can a design be made to suit your needs.
Most times you don’t know if your budget will meet your expectations unless a system design is put together to suit all your requirements.
McCormick Concepts provides a fully documented proposal. This gives a detailed, easy to understand breakdown of how your system will work and the procedure in which it’s to be installed. We also provide a detailed line drawing of the system to ensure all components are compatible and we guarantee the system will work the first time round.

I am on a budget can I install the cabling now and buy the equipment later?
ABSOLUTLY! In fact we recommend everyone that is building or renovating to pre-cable for things they may want in the future. It’s much easier, cheaper and quicker to install cabling when the house is a bare shell rather than a house that has been sheeted and fitted off. It’s also very important to do pre-cabling on 2 storey houses, or anywhere there is no roof cavity, as later on you would have to do damage to the ceiling and walls to get the cabling installed.
It’s extremely important to document and take photos ,where necessary, of what cabling has been installed and where it is located. This is important as it may be some time before your equipment is installed making it hard to remember where the cables are situated.
McCormick Concepts document all of their pre-cable installations with a schematic layout showing where the cables are located.

I have already spent a lot of money on my system do I really need to buy surge protection?
Would you buy a $100,000 BMW and not insure it?
Surge protection is vital in all home equipment systems. Most people believe insurance companies cover power surges but in most case they only insure against lighting strikes. If you have a power surge that isn’t cause from a lighting strike you then have to prove that the electrical authority is at fault and possibly need to take legal action to get compensation. This can be a timely and expensive process.
Generally all this can be prevented by purchase a good quality power board for about $299.
Some things you might want to think about when selecting surge protection products are
- What is the devices clamping voltage.
- How much current can the device absorb.
- Does the device have a connected equipment warranty.
- Does the device have power filtration.
McCormick Concepts has a full range of surge protection and power filtration products to protect our equipment. For information on how surge protection works or on our products please contact our friendly staff.
