The Pioneer Corporation began in Japan as an audio products manufacturer in 1938. Nazumo Matsumoto started the business by making speakers in his garage.
Today Pioneer Electronics is a world leader in electronics products for the car, home, professional DJ as well as commerce and industry. Pioneer is respected for its role in introducing such innovations as interactive cable TV (1977), consumer laser disc (1979), GPS car navigation (1990), DVD-Video player (1996), high definition plasma display (1997) and more recently the first full High-Definition plasma panel capable of 1080p format.
