There are a few things you should consider during the design process.
• What things do you like to do in your home and what might you wish to do in the
future?
• What technologies will your children want to use?
• Do you want to stay up to date with technology and therefore be able to add
advancements in the future?
• Do you want the reliability of a wired network added with the convenience of
wireless music or internet?
• Do you want to protect that which is most important to you?

Here are some examples of the technologies you may wish to consider:
• Home Entertainment Systems
Home theatres
Surround sound
Projector screen
Multi room audio
Outdoor entertainment
• Home Protection Systems
Security
Access Control
Intercoms
• Home Information and Lighting Systems
Data
Telephone
Internet
Smart Lighting such as Dynalite or CBUS

Once you have chosen the technologies you wish to use, you then need to pick and installer who can integrate all your technologies together. You also need to consider and inform your installer on the technologies you may wish to add in the future. For example, as your children get older they may want TV in their bedrooms. It will be cheaper and easier for you to choose these things now and add cable accordingly.
Importance of Pre-Cabling?
All the wiring for your technologies
should be installed during the construction stage, before walls are
sheeted this allows the installer full access to cabling areas. By
wiring before the walls are sheeted you can save yourself the hassle and
cost of trying to integrate such technologies later or possibly not
have the option at all.
McCormick Concepts can help you select the technologies you want,
design a compatible system, purchase the gear and install it!
Why Not Wireless?
The benefits of a hard wired system over a wireless include; better transmission, faster, 100 % reliable, secure, and easier for future upgrades. Also wireless can be affected by environmental factors, especially in high congestion areas.
Wireless technologies can still be integrated into a hard wired system for your convenience. For example; wireless internet for laptops and mobile phones.
